Exploring Health Data Intermediaries: A Learning Community for Local Health Departments
Health data intermediaries, including Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) and Health Data Utilities (HDUs), can provide LHDs with access to valuable data and capabilities to support public health practice. This Learning Community will bring together LHD staff at various stages of engagement with HIEs/HDUs to deepen their understanding of intermediary capabilities, share experiences and promising practices, and identify opportunities to leverage HIE/HDU data to advance local public health priorities. Sessions will feature presentations and discussions with selected HIEs/HDUs and LHDs, offering perspectives from those exploring these resources to those with established experience accessing and using HIE/HDU data and capabilities to inform public health practice.
Learn more here and complete the application by Friday, November 6, 2026, 1:59 PM ET to express your interest in joining the Learning Community. For questions, please email phinformatics@naccho.org.

The support focuses on collaborative work across organizations and sectors rather than the internal operations or development of a single organization.

Submit your application via NACCHO’s online portal by November 16, 2026 at 5:00 PM ET. Questions? Contact the Injury and Violence Prevention Team at ivp@naccho.org with the subject line “RISE RFP Question.”
Submit to the Congenital Syphilis and Perinatal HIV Compendium
Since 2021, NACCHO has collected information on congenital syphilis prevention and control interventions/activities across the United States. This effort focuses on gathering information on interventions/activities across the entire spectrum of prevention of syphilis among persons with childbearing capacity and congenital syphilis, as well as information on syphilis screening/testing efforts of persons with childbearing capacity at local jails. As of July 2023, NACCHO expanded the compendium to also include perinatal HIV interventions/activities.
The compendium is intended to increase peer-to-peer collaboration and improve syphilis and perinatal HIV prevention efforts. Local health departments can review what other jurisdictions have tried and submit information on their local interventions/activities, regardless of whether the intervention/activity has been evaluated. To submit to the compendium, local health departments can use the online submission form.
